Dear Brothers and Sisters Students,
I know you must be feeling a bit panic and scared looking forward to next
monday night with your shelters. I am sure you have been working with your
permissions and might start feeling that you are facing a wall. This is
normal. Since you are working with constructions in public spaces and time
is limited, you must face the facts and react accordingly. For example:
– In case the building permission or permission for performance in the
site that you favour or want seems to take too long time, you forget the
place or at least the permission. There is no time. Go for the next
possibility or work without the permission.
– In case you deside to work without a permission remember that you carry
the responsibility of your acts by yourself. So: do not brake the law – do
not offend peoples rights – do not offend people in general – be polite
and flexible – in case you are kicked out from a site: pull back, regroup
and continue in another place.
– When working in public, do not emphasize that this is a student work.
This is your work and the studies is a secondary thing.
– This is not a group work, so nobody will assist you with getting the
permissions. Not Doctor Chen or anybody else. I have asked Chairman Chen
to leave the responsibility to you.
– Some possibilities to go around the building permission or permission to
performe: A) Make the shelter movable so that you can dismantle it and
build it in another place or move it around other ways – like the illegal
shoe sellers. B) Camouflage your action to be something else legal or
normal. C) Build your shelter in a place where you will not face the
problem of somebody asking a permission. D) Talk to somebody in the
company or other authority connected to the site and in case you are asked
the right for actin refer to the name and talk you have had with him/her.
" Yes I have talked with XXX and the action is ok, I don’t need any
official permission for this since this is a temporary thing only for
tonight…"
See you tomorrow. Be brave and use your head. If you want your thing to
happen, it will happen.
